Where It Started

My name is Ethan Strydom

And Space Samurai Productions is my Business...

Who Am I? -

I am a 23 Year Content Creator, Blogger and Photographer based in Durban, South Africa at the moment.

I have a deep love and passion for Photography, so much so, that I dreamed of going full-time with it, ever since I picked up my first proper camera. I have started Space Samurai Productions to work towards that dream.

Why Space Samurai? -

I draw much of my creative inspiration from Anime and Movies. I love to study both Movies and Anime, breaking them down into their building blocks: Cinematography, Story, Dialogue, and Themes. I grew up watching stories of Ninjas, Samurai and Space Pirates so I wanted to start a company that gives credit to my inspirations and I wanted to create a name that stands out from traditional Photography and Media Companies. I wanted to be different because that is what Space Samurai is, a media company that does it differently, that goes against the flow.

Space Samurai is a reference to one of my favourite anime I've ever seen. It's a show called Cowboy Bebop (a 90s gem, you should definitely watch it). After every episode the screen cuts to a singular black frame with the quote displayed "See You Space Cowboy", a perfect ending to a show about a Space Bounty Hunter drifting through the cosmos. Used some creative flair with 'Space Cowboy' - Cowboy + Samurai = et viola Space Samurai was born!!!
